Privacy Policy

Tailwind Drive reads one thing off your screen and sends one thing off your phone by itself. This page says exactly what those are, and what you can choose to send us on top of that.

Effective 30 August 2026 · Applies to the Tailwind Drive Android app (com.merowingus.tailwinddrive)

// the short version

Who is responsible

Tailwind Drive is made by Mykola Kharchuk, trading as Merowingus Studio, an independent developer. Questions about this policy or about your data go to info@merowingus.com.

Why the app uses the Accessibility Service

Tailwind Drive uses Android's Accessibility Service for one purpose: to notice the moment an offer card appears in Uber Driver and to capture a single screenshot at that moment. It is used to read the screen, never to act on it — the service does not tap, swipe, type, or control any app on your behalf.

You are asked for this permission during setup, after a screen that explains what will be read and where it goes. You can withdraw it at any time in Android Settings → Accessibility, and the app stops reading anything the moment you do.

What the app reads from your screen

From the screenshot of the offer card, the app reads text on the device using on-device text recognition (Google ML Kit, running locally — the image is not uploaded for recognition):

The screenshot itself is held in memory only for as long as it takes to read it, then discarded. It is not written to storage, not backed up, and not transmitted anywhere. The app does not read your messages, your contacts, your other apps, or anything on screen outside the moments an Uber Driver offer is being examined.

What leaves your phone

The drop-off address, as text, and nothing else. It is sent to Google Maps Platform to be converted into map coordinates, which is what lets the app measure whether the trip brings you closer to your Destination Point or takes you away from it.

That request is handled by Google under Google's Privacy Policy. We do not receive a copy of it, and we do not keep a record of the addresses you look up.

Reporting a wrong verdict (optional)

If Tailwind shows a verdict you believe is wrong, you can send us a report from inside the app. This is entirely your choice: nothing is sent unless you tap send, and you see the full contents first.

The report contains what Tailwind read off the offer card — the drop-off address as text, the coordinates it resolved to, the fare and trip length printed on the card, and the verdict shown — along with your app version, Android version, and phone model. Your Destination Point appears as coordinates, never as its address. Tailwind reads only the offer card, which appears before you accept a trip, and that card shows an approximate drop-off. We see where a trip was heading, not who lives there: no customer names, no phone numbers, no exact addresses.

Reports arrive by email from your own mail app, so you keep a copy of what you sent. We use them to fix address recognition and delete them once the issue is closed. Please do not attach screenshots from a trip you have already accepted — those screens carry customer details that the offer card does not, and we do not want them.

What stays on your phone

These are stored in the app's private storage on your device and are never transmitted:

Location

With your permission, the app reads your device's current location to measure how far an offer would leave you from your Destination Point. Your location is used on the device for that calculation and is not transmitted to us or to anyone else. If you decline the permission, the app still works — the verdict is simply measured without it.

Notifications

The app posts notifications for two reasons: to run its on-screen banner as a foreground service while an offer is being shown, and to tell you if a permission it needs has stopped working during a shift. Notifications carry no personal data beyond what you already see in the app.

What we do not do

Deleting your data

Everything the app keeps lives on your device. Uninstalling Tailwind Drive removes all of it. You can also clear it at any time from Android Settings → Apps → Tailwind Drive → Storage → Clear data. The one exception is a report you chose to send us: that email sits in our inbox until the problem it describes is fixed, and is then deleted. To request deletion sooner, email info@merowingus.com from the address you sent the report from — we will delete it and confirm. Apart from those reports we hold nothing on our side, so there is no separate deletion request to make — but if you want confirmation of that in writing, email info@merowingus.com and you will get it.

Children

Tailwind Drive is a tool for working rideshare and delivery drivers. It is not directed at children, and it is not designed or intended for use by anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If what the app reads or sends ever changes, this page changes with it and the effective date at the top is updated. A change that widens what leaves your phone is also shown inside the app, and you are asked to read and accept it again before it takes effect — consent given to the old wording is not treated as consent to the new one.
